The Bristol Classic (Shepton) Motorcycle Show 2022 – The Write up

Well what a great show, we travelled up on Friday morning to give us time to set up the display, we all arrived safely and set about turning our area into something to be proud of. we consisted of myself, Matt Dart, Gareth Thorn, Paul Dean, and Steve Barrett and his wife Tracy.

First job was to lay the carpet I scrounged a henry hoover from an acquaintance on the Wells classic bike stand, (next door but one) we moved the bikes into position and got the tea urn plugged in! Next was the spotlight uplighters and then the information boards, these tell the visitors what machine they’re looking at. We put together our new barrier posts and joined them all together with blue rope, I think you’ll agree they look amazing. We were showing the following bikes:

Yamaha YB100

Rickman Metisse off road machine

400 Super Dream Cafe racer special

Yamaha XT500

Both Saturday & Sunday was really busy, there didn’t seem to be a minute when there wasn’t someone on the stand chatting with one of us.

I think the free tea & coffee helped. Tracy did us proud with hot pasties on Saturday morning. Saturday evening was spent in the bar at the show ground watching Wales attempt to catch England who set a lead that was just outside side what we could achieve in 80 minutes. Quite a few members made the trip and visited us on the stand, a couple of notable visitors was our own Tony & Wally who both rode over on Sunday.

On Sunday morning a show organiser presented me with a best in show military machine rosette, that was a result. People were really interested in our forthcoming Malcolm Uphill memorial ride out. More details on that later.

So all in all a great weekend.
